Shalynn Jones is a Sophomore at Linn R-2 in Linn, MO. She is very involved in 4-H; serving as Secretary, Vice President, Camp Counselor, and a participant in Hippology, Horse Bowl, and Interstate Exchange Program. She is a member of FFA and was a Fall Speaking Contestant for two years, and the Horse Judging Contestant last year. Shalynn participates in Drama Club, Honor Choir, Uplift, WYSE, and Knowledge Bowl. Her community achievements include Dog Days of Summer Camp at MU, the three-week Showdown Academy community theater workshop. She has clocked over 100 volunteer hours with a local veterinarian and served as a Team Kid assistant. Prevention is important to her because, “Drugs do not just affect the person using, but they affect all those who love them. In my community, I volunteer with the young children in my church. They are the future of my community. By being a role model of a drug free person who reaches my goals without the use of drugs or alcohol, I hope that I can influence others to be drug free as well. It is my desire to help my community to be a safe place to continue to live.”
